Skiing
The region of Norrbotten has many sking activity centres. They are familiy orientated with
good ground based activities in clubhouses with hot food and drinks available. You need to know that the skiing locally within 10 minutes to 45 minutes drive from the house is not like mountain skiing in central Europe where you go out for the day. The slopes in this region will give you good fun skiing as an activity for several hours. All resorts have winter lighting and you can ski up until 21.30 hours in the evening. There are cafes and restaurants available at all sites.
- Mattsund is about 45 minutes away in the car
- Kanis is about 10 minutes away in the car
- Boden is about 45 minutes away in the car
The difference between central Europe and Northern Europe is the cost. You can hire the ski equipment, ( boots / bindings, skis and poles ), lift pass with two to three minutes wait all for approximately £24.00 per day per person. If you have your own equipment then it is £7.00 a day for ski lift pass. Some resort centres have lesson facilities as well.You turn up and park and within a short while you are skiing under lights or in daylight. Its a memorable experience and a must whilst you are in Sweden.
